MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES

Based out of Toronto, Canada, New Point Psychotherapy was founded on the concept of working towards a better version of ourselves.

If you are looking for a psychotherapist, social worker or addictions counsellor, chances are you are going through a rough patch or time of change in your life—whether that involves anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, substance use, relationship challenges, or major life transitions. These are the types of experiences that often lead people—and sometimes their loved ones—to seek support. You may also be here because someone you care about is struggling, and you are unsure how to help. We provide support for both individuals and families, including family support services and professionally guided addiction interventions when a loved one may not yet be ready to seek help.

There are times in life when many of us feel the need for additional insight and guidance regarding circumstances, feelings, patterns, and behaviours that leave us overwhelmed or confused. There are also times when things might be going relatively “okay,” but you feel a deeper longing for more meaning or the need to make a change that requires overcoming specific barriers. We can help. In situations where a loved one’s mental health or substance use is impacting you, this may also include structured options such as addiction interventions or ongoing support for families navigating mental health.

Working with a caring and empathic therapist can provide the insight and support needed to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. This process can also help you navigate how to respond to the challenges of someone close to you. You will be supported in connecting with your own inner resources (however deeply buried they might appear to be), developing clarity, and creating meaningful, sustainable change.

We believe that therapy is a collaborative process and that you, the client, are the expert on your life. Our work is tailored to the individual and designed to provide a safe, supportive space to learn and grow.

New Point employs a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches to help clients reach their goals. If you feel like it is time to make a change in your life—or are looking for guidance in supporting someone else—we would be honoured to help you get there.

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Our areas of practice include support for individuals, couples, and families—whether you are navigating your own mental health or supporting a loved one.

Addiction & Mental Health

Addiction and associated mental health issues are complex and can hold us back from being our true selves, free to accomplish and participate in life untethered. With a combination of professional and lived experience, New Point can provide support in a range of areas—including therapy and professionally guided addiction interventions for individuals and families. You or your loved ones don’t have to go through it alone.

When working on ourselves, it is not uncommon to explore interpersonal relationships. Group sessions are available to help support and decipher those bonds.

Individual, Couples & Family

Academic and Life Transitions

Life transitions can feel overwhelming, especially during formative academic years. We provide compassionate support to help students and young adults navigate change, build confidence, and develop the tools needed to manage new responsibilities. Whether adjusting to post-secondary education, entering the workforce, or finding a sense of purpose, our approach focuses on fostering resilience and creating a foundation for future growth.

Family Support

Helping a Loved One Who Won’t Seek Help?

When someone you care about is struggling with their mental health or substance use and is not ready for support, it can leave families feeling stuck and unsure what to do. We provide support for families in person and virtually, helping you better understand what’s happening and how to respond with clarity and confidence.

When appropriate, we also offer structured addiction intervention services to help guide these conversations and support connection to treatment.
